RAF 100 Parade - Swansea

Over 400 Royal Air Force personnel and Air Cadets paraded through through the streets of Swansea on Saturday 21st April 2018 in a special parade to mark the 100th anniversary of The Royal Air Force.

After a short ceremony where the RAF were granted the highest Civic Honour a council can award, The Band of the RAF College performed inspection music including 'The Great Escape' and 'The World in Union', The parade was then inspected by dignitaries who included The Sectary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns, The Lord Lieutenant and The Lord Mayor for Swansea.

The parade then 'stepped off' and The Band of the RAF College led the parade from St Mary's Church to the Brangwyn Hall through Oxford Street and up St Helen's Road and included members of The Queen's Colour Squadron from the RAF Regiment and RAF St Athan. A large contingent of nearly 200 Air Cadets from all over South Wales then followed led by the Welsh Wing Air Cadet band from 215 City of Swansea.
