On Saturday 17th March HMS Cambria was awarded the Freedom of the City of Swansea.
After a short ceremony at The Swansea Guildhall the Band of HM Royal Marines Portsmouth (Royal Band) lead HMS Cambria, The Royal Naval Reserve in Wales, the Royal Marines Reserve’s Cardiff Detachment, Wales Universities’ Royal Naval Unit, Swansea Sea Cadet Corps and veterans through the streets of Swansea from The Guildhall to the National Waterfront Museum, over a mile away!
Most of the marches that the band played were by the' British March King' K.J Alford, this section included 'HM Jollies', 'Colonel Bogey', 'Hollyrood' and 'On The Quarterdeck'. The Mountbatten March and Shrewsbury Fair were both also played as well as the Regimental marches of The Royal Marines and The Royal Navy, 'A Life on the Ocean Wave' and 'Hearts of Oak'
